Coffee has been cultivated in the Nilgiris since the 1830s, with Arabica varieties known for their rich aroma and flavour. For generations, this crop has provided a steady livelihood to the communities who grow it.

The entire family is involved during harvest, carefully handpicking the ripe berries.
The fruits are traditionally processed at the village level, hand-pressed using river stones or simple hand-operated pulpers to remove the fruit coat. The beans are then sun-dried, roasted, and ground. Grown and processed without chemical inputs, this hands-on approach enhances quality while preserving time-honoured practices and supporting community livelihoods.
